Marietta the Gathering

When: Saturday, March 1st, 10AM – 8PM
Where: Historic Marietta Square
Host: The City of Marietta

Brought to us by the City of Marietta, Marietta the Gathering is an amazing festival catered to all things nerdy and artistic. This would be a great place to bring out your cosplays and fursuits for a fun day out where tons of people will love to see them!

There are several big attractions at this festival, all of which will be a great time in their own way:

Guild Show (10AM – 8PM): This marketplace is very similar to a dealer’s den that you’d expect at cons, except with a lot of stuff from outside just the furry fandom! Be sure to stop by and take a look at all the super talented vendors and their stocks!
Tournament Alley (10AM – 7PM): Sponsored by MomoCon, this area of the festival is entirely based on having fun with tabletop games, board games, and video games. This is a great place to relax in the shade and enjoy some time with friends!
Main Stage Entertainment (5PM – 8PM): Starting off at 5PM, there’ll be an opening performance by the band Hyperspace, before the headlining act is put on by Raspberry Pie at 7PM!
Cosplay Contest (1PM): At this event, you’ll get a chance to show off your amazing cosplays and fursuits! If you’re interested in strutting your stuff on stage, this is definitely the event for you~
Additional Activities: Throughout the day, there will be a large variety of panels, improve shows, geek trivia games, and even axe throwing!

Even more exciting, this event is free-to-enter for all! If you’re looking for a fun way to spend your day next Saturday without having to break the bank, you should definitely make your way over to Marietta for this awesome festival.

Ravefurrest ATL

When: Saturday, March 1st – 2nd, 10PM – 4AM
Where: MOM SAID ITS FINE
Host: Ravefurrest

Brought to Atlanta by Ravefurrest, they’ll be hosting a massive 18+ rave in a venue at Underground Atlanta! It’s going to be an amazing time for those of us who love a good rave, so be sure to drop by if that’s your type of entertainment~

As for parking, there is both on-site and nearby parking, which ranges from $5 – $20. From experience, I recommend trying to park as close to the event as you can, as you will feel much better walking back to your car in the late night/early morning. Once you get to the door, admission will be $25 at the door, or you can save some money and only pay $20 online, by purchasing them in advance through ADV!

Walk the Beltline!

Where: Atlanta

WALKIES??!?! That’s right! Shusky’s inviting you to walk with them through Piedmont Park/Beltline!

The loose schedule/itinerary is that we’ll meet up on the South Entrance of Piedmont Park at around 3PM, and we’ll start our walk at 4PM – either towards Ponce City Market or through the park itself.

We’re hoping for good weather, but it’ll most likely be COLD! Make sure to wear warm clothes suitable for walking in the inner city. Badges/tails can be allowed, but be mindful of em!

Parking is VERY limited! Carpooling and Public Transit (Uber/Lyft/MARTA) recommended!

Ding Tea Augusta Fur Meet

Coming from our friends in Augusta, we have a lovely meet at the local Ding Tea location. Ding Tea is an awesome place that has ramen, boba, board games, and even karaoke!

In addition, feel free to bring all your furry apparel and fursuits for this fun event! Fursuits have been confirmed by the venue to be allowed on premise

Furry Minigolf Meet

Fore! In order to have some extra fun this February, come join us for a furmeet at a modern Mini Golf course!

This location is very pro-furry allowing suiting and opening up the pub area for a place to socialize and draw art, so it’s sure to be a good time. In addition, the pub serves both beverages and some really good food, so be sure to bring some food money!

Feel free to stop by to meet some new furs, draw some art art, play some mini golf, and enjoy good vibes~

Little 5 Points Meet (Again!!!)

If you’re looking for a fun weekend activity this month, make sure to join us at Little 5 Points! Our community has had a number of meets in this area, and it’s always been a super fun time~

To begin with, we’ll be going through a variety of stores for some shopping! After we shop and chill, we will be going to Rusans for dinner. They sell sushi, and some really, really good ramen!

Even if you’re just planning on browsing, please be sure to bring at least $20 for dinner and $10 for parking. In addition, be sure to dress warm, as it will be COLD!

In addition, fursuiting is encouraged, as the people at Little 5 Points absolutely ADORE suiters!

VRChat Meet: Virtual Valentines

Furries at Atlanta Pride!

When: October 12th-13th, 3PM

That’s right! It’s that time of year where Atlanta Pride is back in town, and we’re so excited to share this amazing experience with everyone!

If you haven’t been to an Atlanta Pride before, then you’re in for a real treat. It’s a lovely experience in the heart of downtown Atlanta, at the beautiful Piedmont Park. There’ll be lots of celebration of the LGBTQ+ community, as well as unique vendors, good good, and even a special FWA stand!

That’s right, FWA’s team will be hosting a panel with lots of fun things. I don’t have all the details, but it’s definitely not something you’ll want to miss. In addition, it’ll be a super easy way to locate some more furs to make some new friends~

VRChat Meet: Movie Night

Sup, racers! Get ready for a boat-load of nostalgia, because the movie we’ll be watching is Hot Wheels: World Race, the 2003 prologue to the Hot Wheels: AcceleRacers movie series.

User reviews hold up pretty well for this movie even today. If cheesy and silly is what you want, then this piece of art will thoroughly entertain you. And because it’s in VRChat you get to snuggle with your friends on a sofa as you watch, and there’s nothing better than that!

Pontoon Brewery Meet (21+)

Where: Sandy Springs, GA

THIS IS OTTERLY AWESOME! We’re very excited to announce that we’ll be hosting an event at Pontoon Brewery! This establishment is a local (and Shusky-Approved) favorite: you may recognize their name and mascots from one of the guest breweries at FWA. They are very local, and very excited to host us for this very first–out of possibly many–Pontoon Brewery events!

The venue welcomes us to bring our own board games and tabletops to set up on their tables while they are ready to serve up some of their delicious brews. Of course, you are not obligated to join in with drinking with us, but we do want to show our appreciation to the venue–whether you take home a box or partake in a lil 5oz, or even donate a little bit–show out a lil! Oh, did I mention this event is Fursuit-Friendly? We’ll gladly set-up a photoshoot up by one of their murals.

That’s not all: there’ll be an Art Market happening at the same time, AND there’s food being served as well for those feeling a little peckish. GeorgiaFurs MiniCon Announcement

GeorgiaFurs MiniCon 2024

We’re official now! On October 19th-20th, we’ll be hosting a 2-day “mini con” at the FWAffice. And you read that correctly, it’s a 2-day event this time around, so make sure to mark your calendars!

In the previous years, we wanted to provide enough experience – for both attendees AND vendors – to have that “mini con” experience and enjoy each other. However, the sizing of our community centre makes it difficult to cater to EVERYONE, with so much movement. So, we’re splitting it: one day will be for events and activities, the other is strictly for vendors.

October 20th: Vendor Hall, Flea market, Lite Events, Raffling!

Future Plans

So where do we stand right now? Well, transparently, we’re about to write out the activities we want to do for those days. Thankfully, we’ve got some ideas already to differ from previous MiniCons! We’re also going to be looking for those with panel ideas. Ideally, we’re looking for something that can bring the everyone together in either craft or discussion, whilst still having other things going on. We’ll be creating a form for that soon! If you’re interested: start thinking of what you want to do and get ready to submit your ideas!

For our Artists and Fursuit Makers, however, we’re about to open up applications today for those who wish to vend at the event. We’ll be posting those in their respective areas in both our Discord and Telegram chats. If you’re interested in applying, keep an eye out for the applications! In previous years, we’ve been only able to do a few tables. Since we have the WHOLE space dedicated to you and the Flea Market this year, we have the opportunity to have more tables. Just be sure to read through the application and send it our way! We have…a LOT of work to do.

The team is excited that, over the last year, we’ve found the energy AND bandwidth to be able to start working on this a lot earlier than previous years. Our GeorgiaFurs members deserve the best community, and our team is working hard to provide the opportunity. We couldn’t have done it without the amazing GeorgiaFurs Mods, GeorgiaFurs Staff, and other Volunteers that have all helped us throughout the years. Of course, we WILL need help for MiniCon prep and management. If you’re interested in helping, we’ll be releasing more details on the opportunity in the near future! However, the GeorgiaFurs Team just wanted to say thank you to everyone for being just AWESOME and building this community as your own! We have these events because of all of our lovely community members, SO THANK YOU!
